Retired Apparatus
Red to Green to White
Cowichan Bay Fire Trucks started out Red like most traditional Fire Trucks. In 1978 when the "New" Custom Pumper Truck was ordered from Hub Fire Engines, there was a new safety initiative underway that focused on Emergency Apparatus being more Highly Visible and less inconspicuous. So the New Pumper was ordered in the new color, Optic Yellow. The department painted the remainder of its apparatus this color until the order of another custom Pumper Truck in 2001. The added expense involved with ordering a truck in a non-stock color lead to the change in paint schemes. The 2001 truck was ordered in a base White and then had the Green Stripes added in a way to maintain a piece of our history as we headed into a new era.
