The Cowichan Bay Fire Department has 35 dedicated paid on call firefighters operating out of 1 fire station. They are under the direction of Fire Chief Colin Gaw and a team of dedicated officers.

Our dedicated members respond to an average of 200 calls in a protection region that ranges for 67 square km’s. The fire department responds to all types of emergency incidents of help from our community and surrounding communities. Our members are NFPA trained certified and strive to be at the leading edge of our profession, and all share the same passion and commitment to help our citizens out in their time of need.

The Protection area is 76 square km’s. The fire department responds to all types of emergency incidents

The Cowichan Bay Fire Department not only specializes in fire suppression. Our firefighters respond to a variety of emergency incidents trained for all medical response to assist BC Ambulance Service, Vehicle extrication, Low Slope rescue and any other emergency the public needs assistance with.

Our firefighters are very proactive on educating the public in fire safety, with a variety of programs offered. Teaching our youngest in schools to home visits for anyone needing direction on keeping there home safe for their families. Fire smart program is offered, this program goes into detail on keeping your property fire smart in case of a large forest fire.
